If you are like me, you’ll dislike the idea of a full retirement, since you’d probably get bored out of your minds. In this case, looking for ways to make money during retirement really makes sense.
This allows you to stretch your retirement fund and also face some retirement expenses you didn’t prepare for.
Here are 3 ways to earn an additional income during your retirement:
Work as a nanny or a tutor
There are countless families who need help with their little ones. Since US is not too ‘friendly’ with young families (let’s just say that, in other countries, you get a 2 year maternity leave, for instance), a lot of parents struggle to balance their jobs and also raising their little ones.
If you like kids and would love to care for them, becoming a nanny makes sense.
Do you have a skill that you can teach? Go for it.
From Math tutoring to music, sports and Geography, there’s always a need for skilled private tutors for the young ones.
I have successfully taught English, Math and even web design to kids and young adults, so there’s no reason not to try.
Sell home made goodies
Are you a good baker? Are you skilled at home cooking? You have no idea how many families would love to ditch the stress of baking for the holidays or preparing appetizers and, instead, order them from a reliable source.
You guessed right, you could be that reliable source.
Use quality ingredients and prepare some delicious food, you can always earn a nice income out of this.
A big plus for you, if you have some foreign ancestry, as Americans are crazy in love with ethnic foods. I, for instance, can cook some pretty delicious Romanian meals that are both tasty and healthy.
Handyman
It’s crazy how many people need repairs and how few actually can handle this type of work.
If you are skilled, there’s a lot of money to be made with small home repairs, painting, garden work etc.
You won’t be able to take on big projects, but there’s a lot of money to be made with smaller repairs people can’t find the time or skills to do.
Ask for a good price, offer an excellent service and you might find a good and lucrative use for your time.
Work online
A lot of people are scared to look for online work, since they fear the clients would have an issue with them being underage, women, too old etc.
Nonsense.
All clients want is a good job.
I have worked with countless clients from all over the world and none of them had an issue with me being a woman, not working in the US (back when I was in Europe) or not having a web design diploma, as I’m a self-taught web designer.
All they wanted was to get a good website design for a decent price.
Right now I offer web design, web hosting, SEO and website maintenance services and will probably do so in the coming years.
So, if you are skilled with online work, just do it.
These are just few ideas to make money during retirement. Of course, as time and skills allow you, there are even more money making opportunities.
