Healthy inside, beautiful outside.
This is my motto when it comes to anti-ageing strategy. My main focus is on keeping myself young on the inside so that it can be reflected on the outside too.
It’s well known that aging begins internally and the signs on our face don’t do anything else than express that our body is just a machine that rusts and dismantles.
So before having a skincare routine well organized, I focus on a supplementation plan.
First of all: vitamins. I often hear people saying they take all their necessary from fruits and vegetables. Uhmm, which fruits and vegetables? Nowadays, food is not naturally grown. Haven’t you heard about all chemicals and genetically modified products? There is no chance you get vitamins from there. And even if you did, I am pretty sure you would have to eat tons of them to reach the minimum daily recommended doses.
Second step, a good antioxidant. There are plenty of choices, like grapefruit seed extract, green tea, vitamin E, pycnogenol etc. I currently use astaxanthin, as it was recently discovered that it’s one of the best antioxidant choices.
Astaxanthin (derived from the micro algae Haematococcus pluvialis) is actually one of a group of natural pigments known as carotenoids. I chose this antioxidant due to some characteristics, such as : 550 x more powerful than vitamin E, 60 times stronger than vitamin C and 53 times better than beta-caroten. Pretty impressive huh? I know..
But what I love most about astaxanthin and the main reason for supplementing is that it that not only prevents UV sun damage from occurring, but may actually help to reverse external signs of aging from the inside out.
There was a study where people taking 4mg a day of astaxanthin were able to stay longer in the sun without burning. Can you imagine? A better solar filter without all the chemicals that comes with them. Yaay for me! I just hate sunscreen lotions that make me look like a ghost and sticky.
Beside Astaxanthin a good stack of supplements should contain omega 3. Everyone agrees on the importance of fish oil in our diet. If you can’t take it from a food source, pills are a good option.
Here is another secret for beautiful skin: WATER ! yes ladies, water is like an internal moisturizer. A high brand one. Makes wonders for skin when daily intake exceeds 2.5 liters.
Of course, there are many other options for beauty supplementation, but my starter kit/beginner stack is formed from these 3 supplements. Just pick the ones that appeal to you.
Stay pretty ladies!
