I actually run various niche web sites at the moment, but this ‘series’ will detail my work on a web site I have just started few moments ago. I will not provide any details yet, it’s just a travel related web site. For now it’s all you’ll find out π
The plan
Develop an interesting and useful travel related web site that will earn me some passive income from affiliate marketing, banner ads and also Adsense.
What’s been done
- domain name registered, using my favorite registrar.
- small cPanel hosting account set up on my reseller account.
- bought a premium theme for my web site. I am a web designer, so I should probably create my own theme, but I am currently swamped with client work and I’d rather start the web site today and not in few weeks, when I finish the jobs. Will probably make extensive tweaks in the near future or even code my own. So far, it will do the trick.
- WordPress installed, theme installed, initial setup done.
- few articles written.
Niche website traffic
… nothing yet π
Niche website costs
… so far: $11 for the domain name, the hosting is free (well, I do have a $24/mo. reseller account, but there are other web sites in my network, so I haven’t purchased a new account), $48 for the premium theme.
TOTAL COSTS: $59 (not counting the hosting).
Niche website income
… as you can guess .. nothing.
Will keep you updated with my progress, time to do some more keyword researching and settings.
I love this type of article series, noting the growth and success of a recently launched website. Good luck with your new website and hopefully you’ll be able to report a lot of income very soon!
Thank you π
Let’s hope it will be a success. It’s not easy taking care of the baby, working for my clients, managing the network and adding a new web site. But then .. what is a girl supposed to do anyway π
Oh, fantastic! I love reading about building sites. Did the domain name come with any metrics?
